I am passionate about people and while working in a corporate environment I always felt that I wanted to connect with clients on a more personal level.
In 2004 my dad asked me to have a look at his personal finances as he was approaching retirement. He had more than 20 different investments and policies and not knowing whether he was able to retire comfortably made him very anxious.
I made an index of everything and started phoning around but I struggled to find someone that could offer sound financial advice. I was working as a tax consultant at the time, but my dad's experience inspired me to join Brenthurst Wealth as a member of their financial planning team. During the two years that I worked for them I honed my skills as a financial planner and investment advisor and built the confidence to go out on my own.
My experience in Corporate Finance and Tax Consulting formed a very good base for my new career. Degrees and diplomas go a long way towards providing technical skills but I have learnt the most from the different financial scenarios that I encounter on a daily basis. No two clients are the same, and getting to understand each client’s hopes, dreams, fears and realities helps me learn and grow.
Financial advisor is only one of the many hats that I wear. I am also a mother of two and an amateur runner and tennis player.
